A few steps closer to completion
The Linda Ulland Memorial Gardens (LUMG) project moved a few steps closer to completion late this fall. Using selected elements from suggestions provided by the U of M College of Design, as well as garden location ideas suggested by the Coordinator of the Master Gardeners Program in Crow Wing County, our local electrical vendor, Northern Lakes Electric, and irrigation vendor, Sievert Irrigation, were able to do the majority of their installation…just in the nick of time before the weather turned. Final hook-up and systems testing will be completed in the spring.
Certain trees were trimmed up, and a couple of hazardous ones were taken down. The wood from these trees will be used to make the benches for the outdoor classroom, which is located in the center of the LUMG.
Over the winter, meetings will be held with local artisans to develop spec’s for the interactive parts of the garden, including the butterfly garden, talking boxes and Bobber the water safety dog.
